RCC Family Camping Weekend

This trip is targeted at getting families with kids together for a paddle and a camp with other families. If this trip goes well, hopefully it is the start of a series of family friendly trips. The length and pace of this trip will be pitched at a pace suitable for family canoes or older kids in their own boats. There will hopefully be lots of other kids on the trip so the kids can share the time with their peers.

So if you are a paddler and keen to get the family and kids into paddling, or maybe you’re that cool uncle, aunt grandparent who paddles and would like to take their nephew, niece or grandchild to experience camping from a paddle craft then read trip details below.
This event is open to River Canoe Club members past, present and future or families from other Paddle NSW Clubs. If you are not currently a RCC/Paddle NSW member join up (http://rivercanoeclub.org/join) or please complete a Paddle NSW single event membership for each person attending (https://paddlensw.org.au/single-event-membership)

The Trip:
Overnight Camping Trip on the Danjera Dam, Yalwal (45min from Nowra), in the Morton National Park. The road is a well maintained unsealed road. (https://goo.gl/maps/832o3CKbNc42)
Put In at the boat canoe launching ramp near the dam and paddle the 7km along the dam to where Danjera Creek enters the dam. Set up camp, play in/out of the boats. Camp Fire at night (depending on fire restrictions) The Danjera Dam area has some old gold mining ruins to explore.

17-18 November 2018
On the Water for 10am on the Saturday

This trip is open to any River Canoe Club and Paddle NSW paddling families, if you are already a member of PaddleNSW you do not need to join Rivers. If you are not a PaddleNSW member please complete the single event membership for each person at the following link (https://paddlensw.org.au/single-event-membership)

What do you need:
• All your camping gear, if you have not been camping for a while check out the following list (http://rivercanoeclub.org/sites/default/files/RCCEquipmentPackingList.pdf
• PFDs for everyone in your party, note the PFD must fit correctly.
• Boat/s suitable for carrying your family and camping gear, this may be a challenge if you paddle a creek boat or sea kayak sans kids.

Luckily Travis and family from Paddle and Portage Canoes will be coming along on the trip. Travis has a fleet of top quality canoes for hire and a trailer to get them to the dam. So if you don’t happen to have open canoe in your fleet of boats you can hire one from Travis (travis@paddleportagecanoes.com.au)

How do I join the trip?

Please complete this form below:

The form needs to be completed for each family member in your party. Also give yourselves a Family Group Name and use this name for each person in your group so I can decipher who is with which family group.

Note this form will not 1) book you a hire canoe or 2) complete Paddle NSW membership. However, links are provided to complete both these steps.

Data collected in this form will be used by River Canoe Club to prepare a Float Plan under River Canoe Club's safety framework. Additionally, if you indicate below that you plan to contact Travis from Paddle and Portage regarding hiring a canoe for the event, your contact details may be shared with Travis closer to the event to cross check the lists and avoid possible disappointment.

If you want to hire a canoe for the trip contact Travis to arrange this, (travis@paddleportagecanoes.com.au)
If you are not currently a RCC or Paddle NSW member join up (http://rivercanoeclub.org/join) or complete the single event membership for each person attending (https://paddlensw.org.au/single-event-membership)
