Description:

Anzac Day Paddle to Refuge Bay 25th April 2018

Commemorate Anzac Day 2018 by paddling from Parsley Bay Brooklyn to Refuge Bay.

Learn more about Operation Jaywick and Australia's Z Force commando's who used Refuge Bay and the surrounding area to train for the most audacious raid of World War 2.

The plan is to meet at Parsley Bay boat ramp and be on the water pre dawn.

We will paddle to Refuge Bay, which during WW2 was a secret Z Force commando training base.

We will conduct our own commemorative service, share stories of friends or family who have served in previous campaigns

and learn more about Z Force and Operation Jaywick.

This year, I would like to explore above the beach to try and locate any traces of the WW2 training camp in the bush.

We should be back at Brooklyn before lunch time, the Bacon & Eggs rolls at Brooklyn are only 2nd to The Brighton cafe, still worth the paddle though.

The trip is approx 20-25 kms return.

Open water S02 rated, must be able to wet exit and paddle 25 kms.
